New studies show, that a new sound-based therapy may reduce blood pressure and ease migraine symptoms. Dr. Charles Tegeler, a professor of neurology at Wake Forest School of Medicine, says the therapy reads brain activity through scalp sensors that is monitored and converted into a series of audible tones. The tones then reflect back to the brain through earbuds in just a few milliseconds. The therapy is called high-resolution, relational, resonance-based, electroencephalic mirroring (HIRREM) and has so far been tested on about 400 people. The two studies are scheduled for presentation on Thursday and Friday at the American Heart Association’s meeting in Orlando.
