Seborreic Dermatitis is an inflammatory condition of the skin that can cause white or yellowish scales to form on oily areas of the skin such as the scalp. Little babies will sometimes get it and its is called cradle cap. As an adult it can be very embarrassing and difficult to deal with. A lot of times people with treat the condition the exact opposite way that they should. Meaning that they will try and either avoid washing their hair with the fear that it will dry the scalp even more or they will over oil the scalp with grease or heavy oils. The best way to treat Seborrheic Dermatitis is to wash the scalp regularly to keep from oil and dirt compounding on the scalp. The oil and dirt are what attract the inflammation and flakes. By washing the scalp with a shampoo formulated to help this condition and then lightly oiling the scalp to lock in moisture the flakes and scales should be kept at bay until you wash your scalp again. Some of the products I use to treat my scalp are as follow:

Nizoral Shampoo

Olive Oil
Mixed Chicks Deep Conditioner

Carol’s Daughter Black Vanilla Leave-In Conditioner
